Understanding Infertility:

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse (or six months if a woman is over 35). It can be a challenging and emotionally taxing experience for couples, but it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. At the practice of Dr. Ayser Almshhdani, we understand the complexities of infertility and offer compassionate, comprehensive evaluations and treatments to help you achieve your dream of parenthood.

When to Seek Help:

If you’ve been trying to conceive for a year without success, it’s time to schedule an infertility evaluation. However, if you’re over 35, or have any known risk factors for infertility, such as irregular periods, a history of pelvic infections, or endometriosis, you may want to seek help sooner.

Our Approach to Infertility Evaluations:

Our infertility evaluations are designed to be thorough and personalized. We’ll begin by taking a detailed medical history and conducting a physical exam. We’ll also discuss your lifestyle and any potential contributing factors to infertility.

Diagnostic Tests May Include:

  • Ovulation Assessment: This may involve tracking your basal body temperature, using ovulation predictor kits, or performing blood tests to measure hormone levels.
  • Semen Analysis: This assesses the quality and quantity of sperm.
  • Hysterosalpingogram (HSG): An X-ray that examines the uterus and fallopian tubes to ensure they’re open and healthy.
  • Laparoscopy: A minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows us to directly visualize the reproductive organs and identify any abnormalities like endometriosis or scar tissue.

Infertility Treatment Options:

Based on the results of your evaluation, we’ll recommend the most appropriate treatment plan for you. We offer a range of evidence-based infertility treatments, including:

  • Ovulation Induction: This involves using medications to stimulate ovulation in women who aren’t ovulating regularly.
  • Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): This involves placing specially prepared sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation.
  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): This is a more complex procedure where eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm in the laboratory, and the resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus.
  • Surgical Interventions: In some cases, surgery may be necessary to correct underlying conditions that are contributing to infertility, such as endometriosis or fibroids.

Emotional Support:

We recognize that infertility can be a stressful and emotional journey. We offer emotional support and counseling services to help you cope with the challenges and make informed decisions about your treatment. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible care and support as you navigate this journey toward parenthood.

Beyond the Medical:

We also believe in a holistic approach to infertility treatment. This may include recommendations for lifestyle changes, such as dietary adjustments, exercise, and stress management techniques, that can improve your overall health and fertility potential.

Your Path to Parenthood:

We understand that the path to parenthood may look different for every couple. We’re committed to working with you to create a personalized treatment plan that respects your individual needs and preferences. We’ll be with you every step of the way, offering guidance, support, and the latest in infertility treatments.
